That’s when she screamed for help. Residents tried to defuse the situation pulling away house belongings and pouring water over it. The fire quickly spread to the other two apartments. Residents tried by all means to make it a point that the fire doesn’t ruin the entire court.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a faulty electrical connections similar to 71 Jasgrey Court that was also in flames few weeks ago which is blocks away from Northam place. Mary told COURIER that her wallet which had money was destroyed by the fire also.
“I can’t believe that this just happened to me. The fire brigade arrived late if they were here earlier we would be talking a different story. I just do not know where to start at this present moment but I believe something will give,” explained Mary.
Residents say they tried calling ward 57 Councilor Faeeza Chame but she was unavailable to heed their concerns but after several attempts they were told by one of her staff members that she is in a meeting.
The COURIER couldn’t get hold of Clr Faeeza Chame. Moffat View Communication officer Jeff Phora said, “They are still investigating what caused the fire.”
