Children need your good unwanted running shoes

Help us reach our goal and keep hundreds of local children's feet happy.

CAXTON Joburg South, in association with SPAR, is calling all athletes, joggers and everyday sports enthusiasts to donate their unwanted running shoes that are still in good condition for the Drop a Pair and Show you Care initiative.

These shoes will go to schools based in the greater Joburg south region where many underprivileged children will be given the opportunity and motivation to become and remain fit with the correct shoes.

The drive began during the 2015 SPAR Women’s Challenge when Caxton staff noticed that many children from disadvantaged schools in Johannesburg took part in the race barefoot. Since being directly involved in the SPAR Women’s Race, Caxton, as part of its Caxton Cares Initiative, along with SPAR, decided to run the Drop a Pair and Show you Care campaign with hopes of giving back to those in need as well as to supply running shoes to those who wish to join the race.

In 2016, the initiative delivered donated running shoes to Skeen Preparatory School in Alexandra and the Johannesburg Girls Preparatory School in Berea. And just last year, the recipient was Realogile Secondary School in Alexandra, which received more than 300 pairs of running shoes.

This year the initiative aims at collecting 400 pairs of shoes and will fall under the Caxton Cares banner along with SPAR.

Get It magazines and SPAR went on the hunt for this year’s Face of SPAR Women’s Race Joburg to bring women from the north, east, south and west together for the race.

The winner of the campaign, Thulethu Ngqokwe hails from Joburg North and will challenge her runners-up, Monique Naudé (East Rand) Zondelela Ramashala (Meyersdal – South Rand) and Adielah Johnson (West Rand), to raise as many shoes as possible for the Drop a Pair campaign. So, rally behind your campaign girl and show that your part of Jozi has the biggest heart!

Zondelela Ramashala invites the Joburg South community to come together to support the drive. Let us show all of Joburg what the South can do for the underprivileged and inspire more to do the same. Help us reach our goal and keep hundreds of local children’s feet warm and happy.

You can drop off your shoes, and meet the Caxton team and Zondelela, on race day, or you can drop them off at the Caxton Joburg South office situated at 1 Eaton Terrace, ground floor of the Terrace Building, New Redruth, Alberton.
