Social golfers can improve on their skills

Some of the leading schools bring their golf teams for training and coaching to improve on young golfers in South Africa.

Most of the mediocre golfers think that if they need to improve on their golfing skills they need to play more on the golf course.

If you’re the one who chunks, blades or flat-out miss-hits more shots than normal in a round of golf, how will be able to improve on your skills, to maybe play like a pro?

Being a first in South Africa the Gammon Golf Academy, under the management of renowned teaching professional Don Gammon, has been built on the driving range at The Lost City Golf Course and adds another major attraction to what is one of the iconic golf venues in South Africa.

Using the golf simulator which offers some 90 of the world’s most recognised golf courses as well as the latest in swing analysis technology, and it is manned by a qualified teaching professional, any golfer doesn’t have to go for a nine or 18 holes play on course to improve.

If you need to predict your pitch shots or any shot and think, “I can hole this or at least get close,” the golf simulator will be able to point out your mistakes and Gammon will give his professional advice to help you improve.

“We want to make a massive contribution to the Sun City golf experience and help add even more value at what is a fantastic golf facility,” said Gammon.

“We have five or six bays where you’re able to hit balls and get some good accurate numbers on your swing in the studio. But we also cater for corporate groups, development clinics and school groups. I want it to be a place where people can come and get good information.”

“It’s not about getting anybody to play golf the Don Gammon way, but rather about being a source for great information about your game to help you enjoy your golf experience. Essentially, my vision is that somebody must be able to walk off having played a round of golf at one of the two courses and come to us and say I’ve got a problem with my bunker technique and then we can show them one or two things that can make a difference to their next round.”

“And if golfers come for two or three lessons during their time at Sun City, they can go away with a comprehensive breakdown of what is going on in their games sent right to their phones, and they can go and work on it with their regular coaches.”

“You could have a fun fourball on the simulator during an afternoon. So it can be used for high performance or for a group just wanting a fun experience.”

He is also working on some of the leading schools to bring their golf teams for training and coaching to improve on young golfers in South Africa.

“If I was a golf coach at a top school, I’d be looking at taking my golfers to work on the golf simulator. I can also teach them from anywhere in the country once they send me their footage I analyse it and send my advice through to them.

“The type of service and experience we’re offering is a studio that has the kind of equipment that brings the wow factor and where people can get a high quality experience and as much information about their game as possible.”
