UPDATE: Grade 12 Learner at Diversity High dies after being hit by a car

Learner’s death leaves the family devastated

SIVE Mazikwana (18), a learner from Maboya Diversity High School, was hit by a vehicle which claimed his life on July 24 in South Hills.

Learners and South Hill residents were shocked and in disbelief as young Sive, described as a peoples’ person was lying injured after being run over by a bakkie.

The incident took place on Outspan Road. According to witnesses, the learner was in rush to arrive at school on time so that he could not be locked-out for arriving late when the accident happened. As he got off the bus attempting to cross the street, he was hit by a white Ford Bantam bakkie.

The school immediately informed Sive’s parents about the accident, and Sive was rushed to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital where he died a few hours later.

Sive’s mother Zukiswa was heartbroken when she received the news about Sive’s death.

“What I feel now is indescribable. My son was always smiling as he loved being around people. I don’t know how I will cope without him in my life. He respected everyone. Even his teachers at school admired his reverences towards his friends and learners. He was my last born child. Now I am left with one son; it’s hard for me to digest this pain,” said Zukiswa.
