How residents spent Mandela Day

People worked hard on Madiba Day just to honor him.

COURIER took the Madiba conversation to the streets and asked residents what they were doing on Madiba Day.

ELOFF HEARTEN: “In the morning I went to a prayer devotion and blessed Madiba Day and from then I shared the spirit of Madiba with people around me. I liked how people paid tribute to the father of our nation.”
SIBONISO MHLONGO: “My day was not as exciting as other people because I proposed to a girl and she rejected my proposal. That was my 67 minutes not going the way I thought it would but I hope next year will be different.”
LUNGILE NGWENYA: “I was working the whole day. I couldn’t get a chance to honor the legend but my work rate improved on the day just to honour Madiba. My colleagues and I sang for Madiba.”
CAPTAIN DARREN HUKE: “I helped Afrox by giving away blankets and food parcels to the homeless; it was inspiring to share with the homeless. As one of the seniors of Salvation Army, it was exciting to participate in the 67 minutes.”
