WATCH: US pastor adopts La Rochelle Primary School

This follows a visit to the Apostle Faith and Acts Church in La Rochelle on June 28 where Quinton was introduced to the delegates of the area and La Rochelle Primary School.

LA ROCHELLE Primary School learners welcomed Dr Kimberly Quinton with a song and parade to their school for her official introduction to parents as a new donor of the school on June 29.

This follows a visit to the Apostle Faith and Acts Church in La Rochelle on June 28 where Quinton was introduced to the delegates of the area and La Rochelle Primary School.

The school has been struggling without a playground for the learners and it is in desperate need of more classrooms. Although they have applied to the Department of Education for more classrooms, they are still waiting. The school simply does not have enough resources to help the learners with their education, especially when it comes to stationery.

A TREAT: Parents were served cakes and drinks after the ceremony. Parents are happy that Dr Kimberly Quinton is adopting the school.

Quinton heeded the call made by the Apostle Church Faith and Acts to adopt the school because learners have to walk to neighbouring areas for libraries. What concerned Quinton was that some learners come to school hungry and without a proper school uniform.

The school principal, Jones Sehoana, said: “Dr Kimberly Quinton’s involvement is key to the school because she will be able to give us what we can’t give our learners, like stationery and food parcels when needed. We were invited by a church called Apostle Faith and Acts Church in La Rochelle and that’s when we were told that Quinton is interested in adopting our school. Naturally, we said they are more than welcome because we think that the partnership will benefit our learners’ feeding scheme, stationery, a library and school uniforms. Most of our learners come from disadvantaged families.”

Quinton told the COURIER: “God chose this school for me to partner with and bless it. Me adopting the school is not a me-thing but it is God’s will. God showed me visions about this school and I am going to work hard to make a point of it that these learners become leaders of tomorrow.

HYMN: The school choir sings for the parents and delegates at La Rochelle Primary School.

“The school should continue to do what they are doing for the learners because they have given them the best education this far. My collaboration with the school shouldn’t change the way they educate the learners. I am excited to see the school putting Christ as the head and I feel that the children will reach their full potential because Christ is being recognised. What I will be able to give the learners are tools that the parents can’t afford such as paper, books and pens – the things they will need to make sure that their education is made easy.”
