SIBUSISO MASONDO: "We are not as effective as the old youth of 1976. We are more into entertainment. If we can emulate the past generation, we can achieve something as young people. Even at school we are not taking education seriously."
With June being Youth Month, the COURIER asked residents if they feel the young people of today are making an impact on the economy, politics, education and religion? This is what they said:
PASTOR BELINDA: “No, I don’t think they are creating an impact. What is needed are projects in the community that will interest them and also value their input. That will make them step out of their comfort zone.”
MOSES MTSHALI: “Some young people are focused in bettering our communities but most of them are more into parties and fights. If there could be more projects that will help the young people to stay focused, that would be helpful.”
ABRAHAM NDEBELE: “Young people are creating an impact – more especially in churches because most evangelists are young people. Most positions in companies are filled by young people so, to me, they are effective.”
RAFEEQAH MUNSHI: “I do believe that young people are creating an impact in the community because most organisations now are managed by young people. I dismiss the idea that young people are not creating an impact in societies.”
