Readers’ thoughts on cash-in-transit heists

Local residents share their thoughts on cash-in-transit heists.

We asked local residents what their thoughts are on the cash-in-transit heists that have been a concern in the south and surrounding areas.

ALISON ABRAMS: “What I can say is that every cash van must be accompanied by tight security.”
BLANCHE CORNWELL: “More security is required in this regard because the driver can’t do anything when he is threatened at gunpoint. If the security can be beefed up then we will experience foiled heists.”
DONALD MAKGATA: “This is something that needs to be stopped because it taints our country in a bad way. The driver and his assistants can’t do anything when they are under attack. Surrendering is the only option. These heists must come to an end.”
TSEPO MAKOLA: “Someone in the police force or authority is responsible because how can these perpetrators know the routes of these cash vans?”
JANNIE BEZUIDENHOUT: “More security will be helpful because it will terrify the perpetrators. Because if you only have one driver and two for security to guard the cash you are taking risks.”
