Jafta cares for the aged

The Johannesburg Association for the Aged (Jafta) is an old age home which has a commitment to care for the aged and provide secure accommodation.

RECENTLY celebrating its 64th anniversary, the Johannesburg Association for the Aged (Jafta) is an old age home which has a commitment to care for the aged and provide secure accommodation.

The association was first called the Johannesburg Council for the Care of the Aged (JCCA). It was changed to Jafta in 1981 and was registered as a welfare organisation. One-hundred-and-five senior citizens live in en-suite bedsitters, assisted living and frail care.

Their mission is to provide affordable, secure and caring accommodation and services to the elderly. They are committed to caring for the aged by providing cost-effective, excellent and efficient service which will result in satisfaction. They also deal with all of the residents, their families, members of the public and the staff with dignity, sincerity, respect, transparency and compassion.

AT THE HELM: Director Meyer Samuels can be contacted for further details regarding Jafta.

Director Meyer Samuels said they have had several major projects like tiling the dining room, passages, corridors and offices of the home and have completed the modernisation of the frail care sections.

“Funds are always needed for the continuous upgrading of our facilities, as well as to subsidise residents’ fees. We welcome visitors to our home and have an open door policy. Some of our residents have no family and would welcome contact with people outside the village,” he said.
