A musical show for pet lovers

This is another great story for young ones and even features an actress who is from Alberton herself.

NATIONAL Children’s Theatre (NCT) is proud to present Sparky! at the Wynnstay Theatre in the National Children’s Theatre Grounds in Parktown from December 5 to 23.

This musical, based on the novel by Jenny Offill, is another great story for young ones and even features an actress who is from Alberton herself, Electra de Melo, who would love the support of her fellow Albertonians.

Sparky! is a story that teaches a good lesson to all of us – one should always accept a friend or a pet for what they are. Give your child the opportunity to see theatre at its best presented by award-winning National Children’s Theatre.

The story begins with the girl, Libby’s, statement: “I want a pet.” The girl’s mother’s response: “You can have any pet you want as long as it doesn’t need to be walked or bathed or fed.” Libby eventually discovers a pet that meets all the criteria – a sloth that she calls Sparky.

Sparky isn’t as easy to train as she had hoped, but the quiet moment of contentment at the end of the story shows that the bond between owner and pet is more valuable than any impressive tricks.

After every performance children will have the fun opportunity to shake paws with Sparky so don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity.

Until December 23 the show will be running every day at 10am and 4pm at the Wynnstay Theatre in the National Children’s Theatre grounds, 3 Junction Avenue, Parktown. Tickets cost R90 per chair and R80 per cushion. For enquiries and bookings, please call 011 484 1584 or send an email to bookings@nctt.org.za.
