Local helps national team to a win.

JESS Wade who hails from Alberton was one of the stars in Bantwana when the national team beat Botswana with a bumper 5-2 scoreline.

The South African u-17 Women’s National team Bantwana played Botswana in the first leg first round of the 2018 FIFA u-17 Women’s World Cup qualifier played at the Lobatse Sports Complex on December 1.

Wade added to the demise of the Botswana team when she scored on her debut match for Bantwana. South Africa head coach Simphiwe Dludlu selected her in the starting line-up to play Botswana.

The half-time score was 3-1.

Goals from Karabo Dlamini, Thambolinye Mzoneli, Miche Minnies, Jessica Wade as well as an own goal from Tshegofatso Mosotho were enough to see South Africa take a healthy lead going into the second leg which will be played in two weeks’ time.

Wade is a learner at Waterstone College and part of the national team. She is also a SA Primary Schools tennis player.
