Model C, South’s own fashion designers

IT is that time of the year when people dress with the purpose of looking good, while being totally different and exclusive from the crowd.

BOOYSENS – Model C is a group of five young fashion designers (Nhlanhla Ngiba, Rodney Mphepo, Surprise Ndlovu, Ricardo Martin and Mpumelelo Ngiba) located in Booysens, who have been dressing numerous individuals in the South for the past five years.

They specialise in almost every piece of apparel, from garments to accessories, as well as customized clothing. Nhlanhla Ngiba, a co-owner, said, “We have designed heritage outfits for a variety of cultures from July throughout the Heritage month.” He added that it was a challenge for them to design cultural wear that demands a lot of research and creativity.

Grace Mokwena, a South resident who was dressed by the Model C on Heritage day, had her normal T-shirt and dress customized to a full Zulu outfit. She said, “It was an extremely creative thought at an affordable price, not even my parents recognized it was my old clothing.”

Mpumelelo Ngiba also co-owner, noted that if people do not like their closet anymore, they should bring it for a complete make-over and it will differ from the normal dull … look to a unique set-up.
