In less than 24 hours the perpetrator was found with the effort of the Booysens Community Police Forum, the community members as well as the Booysens SAPS.

The perpetrator appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on October 23. The court case has been remanded to October 30.

Ward 55 Clr Rashieda Landis has been offering support to the victim’s family since the beginning of this tragic ordeal.

“By working together, we can root out crime, which denies communities of their right to live in safe environments, free from fear.

“I am so happy that bail was denied. If he was granted the bail application it would have been a disappointment to not only the traumatised family, but also to the community at large. The court’s decision to deny the perpetrator of bail also gives us hope in our justice system.”

The alleged rapist will appear again in the Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court this coming Monday on the 30th of October 2017, in courtroom 12.

Councillor Landis said she is delighted to have worked together with the community to get an offender off their streets, for the safety of their children.
