Deadly in power lifting

The Pit Bull gymnasium power lifters broke a few records at nationals.

THE Pit Bull gymnasium once again showed their steel in the world of powerlifting competing at the National Championship.

The club competed at the Rhino Powerlifting Club South Africa, RPC national power lifting championship 2017, which took place from June 16 to 17 at the Cornerstone College in Pretoria.

The Pit Bull gymnasium had eight lifters who qualified for the event and competed in their respective categories.

Angel Haverly, competed in the 52kg women T1 category, won her first national championship and broke her own Deadlift record for the second consecutive time. She managed to qualify for the GPC World Championship.

AJ Ceronia, 56kg men T1, received the second place with some professional lifting on his side.

Nicholas Stroebel lifted in the 75kg men’s T division and held his own.

Calvin Makondo, 90kg junior males, achieved the first place and bettered his own Bench Press record also for the second time round.

Kobus Bester lifted in the equipped section of the competition, in the 82.5kg men open and medalled in the first place. He also competed in the u.90kg strongman category.

Morgan Chissano lifted in the 90kg open category and received a fifth place award in a very tightly contested division. Chissano will now move up to the 100kg category for his next outing.

Keaton le Roux lifted in the 110kg T3 category in the single lift Bench Press competition and achieved first place and a huge personal best.

In the 125kg Men Master 1 category, Colin du Bruyn won his second RPC national title in a row with nine out of nine lifts with no failure. All his attempts were personal bests. He also improved on his own Bench Press record in his age group.
