Parks residents fed-up with water interruptions

Residents of Richmond Park are becoming infuriated because of lack of water in their units on an ongoing basis.

RESIDENTS who live in Richmond Park and Balboa Park, which form part of The Parks development, bordering Glenanda North and Oakdene, are fed up with water interruptions.

The COURIER spoke to Richard du Toit, estate manager of Richmond and Balboa parks, about the residents’ frustrations. “This has been an ongoing problem for years and the water interruptions persist.

“Nearly every day, I receive calls from residents who are annoyed they have either no water at all for hours or the water pressure is so low, it’s hardly existent. I can understand their concerns but it’s definitely a problem from the municipal side, not ours,” he said.

“It’s the most frustrating thing waking up to no water, and at one stage, last year, we would have no water at least once a week – sometimes over a weekend – for about three weeks in a row. They would fix the burst pipe, but it would only hold for about a week and then burst again,” said Lauren Mare, a resident.

Water pipes in Amanda Road, Glenanda North, are continually being fixed after bursting and, presently, a workforce is putting in new pipes.

“I’m hoping once the work has been finalised on the pipes the problem will cease to exist and residents will once again enjoy a permanent water supply to their homes,” concluded du Toit.
