Making a difference one cupcake at a time

Cupcakes of Hope.

OAKDENE: The Glen Shopping Centre hosted Cupcakes4kidswithcancer on Saturday September 28 and it was a huge success.
From first thing in the morning community members and bakers brought cupcakes which they had baked and decorated themselves to donate to Cupcakes4kidswithcancer project.
“The response has been amazing and just look at the huge variety of decorated cupcakes we have received. It’s fantastic,” said one of the organisers.
There were Hello Kitty cupcakes, lambs, Winnie The Pooh, Glenny (donated by The Glen), ladybirds, lions, butterflies, Spongebob Squarepants, in fact there were so many to choose from it took a while to make a decision!

As children stood choosing their cupcake, adults too joined in the fun and some bought a dozen or more in aid of this marvellous project.
“We are having friends over for dinner, so what a perfect dessert,” said one woman. Another said, “This is a wonderful project and I can’t think of a better gift than buying six or more cupcakes. This way you are giving two gifts.”
As the women who donated their time to assist at the cake tables, said, “It’s great and the South has come to the party yet again! Thanks to all of you who have made cupcakes for this wonderful cause.”
All the money raised from the sale of the cupcakes will help give a child a fighting chance against cancer.
