BREAKING NEWS: Suspected hijacker shot and killed after car chase in Rosettenville

A suspected hijacker was chased by JMPD officers until he was shot and killed.

A man, believed to be in his 20’s, was shot and killed this afternoon (Friday, January 27) at a water treatment plant at the corners of Rosettenville and Fernell Road in Rosettenville.

“The suspect hijacked a vehicle in Rosettenville, on the corner of Phillip and Violet Streets. He was chased by JMPD officers until he was shot and killed. He died on the scene,” said Moffatview Spokesperson, Constable Rebecca Bila.

ER24 paramedics received a call from the local authorities for medical assistance and upon arrival were instructed to stand by at a safe distance.

Numerous local enforcement members as well as a SAPS helicopter were on the scene.

After a short time, paramedics were called into a building where they found the body.

Local authorities will be conducting an investigation into the matter.
