Booysens court – progress discussed

Crichton said he felt the meeting was necessary as people need to know what is happening with regards to the court being built.

A PUBLIC meeting was held on Monday, November 14, at the Southern Suburbs Recreation Centre, to inform the public of the developments and progress of the Booysens Court, in Glenanda North.

This was the second meeting with regard to the court’s development; the first was held in June.

Ward 56’s Clr Michael Crichton was present, with Maphutha Makhura from the construction company (IDT), Louis Hanekom from the Department of Justice, PR councillor Johanna Mapeko, and various members of the Booysens Court steering committee.

During the meeting, Makhura gave a presentation, which explained where they are with regard to the construction, which local businesses made use of, how much local labour has been used for this project and when they expect the project to be finished. The public was allowed to ask questions regarding the project.

Crichton said he felt the meeting was necessary, as people need to know what is happening with regard to the court being built.

“Many residents raised valid concerns regarding the construction, which they will discuss in their next steering committee meeting,” said Crichton.
