BOOYSENS SAPS Detective Constable Bongani Mthembu would like to warn the community about four male suspects who are targeting and robbing female taxi commuters.
It is believed there is a white Quantum with four suspects who are riding around and picking up these women. Once the women accept the lift, they are held at gunpoint and ordered to lie down on the seat of the vehicle and reveal their banking PIN code. Once the suspects have the information one of them goes and makes a withdrawal.
This is taking place in the Turffontein and Ormonde areas between the hours of 06:00 and 08:00 and again between 16:00 and 18:00.
Police have knowledge that the driver is always wearing a beanie and has short dreadlocks. If this has happened to you or if you have any information about the mentioned suspects, please contact D/Cst Bongani Mthembu on 079 333 6649.
