Residents clean up Kimberly Road

After complaining about unmaintained service delivery to the COURIER, locals took time to clean Robertsham.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – After complaining to the Southern COURIER about unmaintained service delivery, residents of Robertsham decided to clean-up the filthy Kimberley Road on Saturday, August 20.

Ward 55 DA Clr Rashieda Landis thanked all the people and organisations who came out to make the South a better place for all who live in it. City Parks representatives were present to show their support and Landis said she asked the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to come at a later stage as they are cleaning the road stage by stage. Residents are also hoping they can acquire enough signatures to have humps installed in the road as it poses a danger, given how taxi drivers speed in the road during peak hours.

“I want people to know as I was re-elected as the ward councillor, working together we can achieve so much more. I also want to thank the REC Centre, CPF neighbourhood watch and all the locals who helped,” said a proud Landis.

JRA has already responded and sent out information about what would be needed from the residents to qualify for having the desired speed humps erected along Kimberley Road.

Members of the mosque on the same road had complained that they paid the council to have parking spaces created on the side of the road, but, according to them, they cannot use the parking because of reckless motorists, the uncut grass and illegal dumping on the sewerage site parallel to the road.
