UPDATE: EFF causes chaos at the Inaugural Meeting of Council
The EFF says it will not let things proceed until the officers who are surrounding the building take the JHB MMC for Housing (Dan Bovu) out of the building.
10:30 am: It is announced that two Councillors have resigned, Cllr Sithole and Cllr Catleen. It is unclear at this point why they have resigned and whether it will affect the voting results.
10:34 am: Voting starts now. 20 Councillors are voting, including the Mayor.
10:38 am: 20 Councillors taking the oath.
10:47 am: The EFF causes chaos and is applauded for accusing one Councillor of being a criminal for having a case opened against the Councillor in Brixton and Eldorado Park.
10:48 am: The chair says the constitutions says all is innocent until proven guilty and when that Councillor is found guilty, only then will steps be taken. The EFF read the case number and say the Councillor is a wanted criminal.
11:03 am: The EFF halts the process as they insist MMC Dan Bovu is a criminal as he has a case of corruption and bribe opened against him. The EFF says it will not let things proceed until the officers who are surrounding the building take the JHB MMC for Housing (Dan Bovu) out of the building.
11:48 am: EFF Cllrs stand away from the DA Cllrs to send a message that we will vote for you but we are not in coalition with you.

11:55 am: As the EFF Clrs walk to take oath and affirmation, the supporters sing that Jesus is back.
12:09 pm: Nomination process is about to start.
12:15 pm: The ANC has just nominated the current speaker, Constance Bapela, to remain in office. She accepted but the DA has just opposed and the whole house is on fire.
12:24 pm: There is a short break as the IEC boxes are being set up for voting.
12:47 pm: The EFF is not leaving anything untouched. They are making sure all IEC boxes are empty should someone try to cheat. The IEC will conduct the voting as the Councillors stand up and go vote for Mayor, City Speaker, and the Chief Whip.
13:04 pm: Voting has just started.
