Pensioners’ society to host meeting for the elderly

Pensioners' society to host meeting for the elderly of the South.

THE elderly can learn and benefit from the NGO, Bank Pensioners Society (BPS) during a meeting for the elderly from the South of Johannesburg.

BPS states that it provides financial services to help the elderly who find themselves in dire financial straits and often have nobody to ask for help as the state pension fund is not enough to cover all their unexpected expenses.

The meeting will be held at the Methodist Church, 2273 Mothlatswa Street, Pimville Zone 2, next to Maponya Mall. The organisation only hosts meetings where the venue and entry are free.

According to the BPS, it aims to assist member pensioners who may find themselves in financial difficulties and require short-term financial assistance, and to join with other pensioner organisations in speaking up for the interests of this section of the community.

BPS is financed through membership subscriptions, currently R58 a year, as well as interest from investments. These funds are available as support for members who find themselves in financial trouble. It also has strategic partnerships with service providers who pay a commission for business received from members.

Please visit www.bps-fips.co.za for additional information, such as a copy of its constitution and the names and addresses of office bearers.

The society has branches countrywide, and its total membership is about 4 500 currently. In Johannesburg South, a branch was opened in 2014 and has a growing multi-racial membership.
