MEC Panyaza Lesufi to receive renovated schools

The Gauteng Department of Education has partnered with Sulabh International, the world’s largest Sanitation Non-Profit Organisation to upgrade sanitation at six schools in Gauteng.

The Gauteng MEC for Education, Mr Panyaza Lesufi, will on Friday November 6, receive the newly renovated Malerato Primary School, during a special handing over ceremony at the school.

The Gauteng Department of Education has partnered with Sulabh International, the world’s largest Sanitation Non-Profit Organisation to upgrade sanitation at six schools in Gauteng. The Sanlam Foundation has donated R3 million to Sulabh to renovate and maintain the facilities over a five year period and Malerato Primary School is one of the six schools to benefit from this programme.

“Sanitation is a key priority for the department and we are excited to partner with Sulabh International on the sanitation club. With good sanitation facilities, learners take pride in themselves and are able to focus on their studies,” says GDE Chief of Staff, Mr Oupa Bodibe.
