Bokang Mosia Foundation launches

The Bokang Mosia Foundation aims to reach new heights and will focus on providing bursaries, scholarships and skills development projects for underprivileged children.

BOKANG Mosia’s (8) dream to give back to the needy and less fortunate gained momentum with the launch of the Bokang Mosia Foundation at the Apartheid Museum on Tuesday, September 22.

Bokang was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in October 2013 and was on his way to a hospital check-up when he noticed young children sleeping on cardboard and plastic bags on the streets of Johannesburg. He was inspired to collect blankets and food for the needy children and the Bokang Blanket Drive was born. He approached family, relatives, friends and churches requesting donations and managed to collect over 60 blankets which he distributed on Youth Day. The blankets were given out at Usindiso Ministries, a shelter in Johannesburg, Ikusasa Lethu, a NGO in Motswaledi camp, Soweto and to a granny in Pimville who takes care of 15 homeless children.

For Mandela Day, Bokang invited the COURIER to celebrate his partnership with Southgate Mall and through the Bokang Blanket Drive managed to collect blankets, clothing and food for the Thembalethu Combined School in Eikenhof. Over 80 less privileged children and parents benefited from this initiative.

The Bokang Mosia Foundation aims to reach new heights and will focus on providing bursaries, scholarships and skills development projects for underprivileged children from disadvantaged communities, homeless children, the terminally ill and injured children in hospitals, children born and living in prisons and senior citizens in old age homes.
