DA call to upgrade Moffat View Police Station

MOFFAT VIEW – The Democratic Alliance’s Boroang Branch, in Ward 56 of Johannesburg, is once again calling on the Government to upgrade the facilities at Moffat View Police Station, and has been gathering signatures for a petition to demand that the Government do something about the conditions at the station. .

Following on from the brutal murder of SAPS members, JMPD, security officers and CPF patrollers, urgent measures need to be implemented to safeguard the citizens of Johannesburg South from being brutalised, maimed, robbed and murdered by roving criminal elements.

Every day, radio stations and newspapers report murders in streets and suburbs. The law-abiding citizens fear for their lives, while criminals have more freedom to terrorise citizens. These criminals are stealing electric cabling, street light poles and robots, and pillaging businesses. Shopping centres have been victims of gang activities and criminals have been relentless in their attacks.

The Democratic Alliance petition for the improvement of conditions at Moffat View Police Station highlights the following: Moffat View Police Station’s prefabricated structures be upgraded to brick and mortar and built according to the new SAPS building specification; urgent need for more fully trained SAPS officers at Moffat View is addressed urgently; more resources are allocated to Moffat View SAPS for members to effectively cope with the workload and possibility of criminal activities of SAPS members is investigated.

We, the Democratic Alliance, intend to vigorously campaign so that our petition be urgently attended to and be tabled for consideration by the relevant authorities in order to save lives and protect citizens from the criminals. This is our constitutional right.
