School teacher inspires the South

Teach SA is an NGO formed to recruit graduates who holds bachelors degrees to teach disadvantaged schools.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – SIR John Adamson High School teacher, Khethiwe Radebe, is proud to be the ambassador of Teach South Africa, an NGO that was formed in 2005 to recruit graduates to teach in previously disadvantaged schools.

Khethiwe is part of a group of graduates who either left the private sector to join the teaching profession, or joined immediately after graduating. Teach SA recruits graduates who hold a Bachelor or Arts, Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Commerce degree to teach in English, Mathematics and Science in historically disadvantaged schools. This process contributes to strengthening the South African education system, increases literacy rates and empowers children with essential and valuable knowledge.

“On Wednesday, July 22, I represented Teach South Africa on e.tv’s breakfast show, Sunrise. The panel interview was focused on the impact that Teach South Africa has in providing competent and passionate teachers and on the Funza Lushuka bursary provided by the Department of Education,’ she said.

To date, Teach SA has trained and placed 340 graduates and over 50 percent of these graduates have continued to teach beyond their two year contractual period.

The Teach SA recruitment drive is currently underway and interested graduates are invited to undertake the online application process at www.teachsouthafrica.org.

Successful candidates will be placed in schools in the 2016 academic year.
