House robberies on the increase in Kibler Heights

House robbery incidents in the same vicinity have Kibler residents noticing a pattern in modus operandi.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – Three house robbery incidents, in the same vicinity, have left Kibler Height residents noticing a pattern in modus operandi.

Residents suspect that the same criminals may be behind the three incidents which occurred in a space of three days.

On the evening of April 30, a break-in occurred at Carol Road, Kibler Park, where residents were threatened and valuables taken.

“At about 18:15, the complainant was busy at Carol Road, Kibler Park, when she heard a big bang on the door. She was approached by a male who threatened her with a pickaxe without a handle and robbed her of cell phones, laptop and wedding ring. A case of house robbery was opened with Mondeor SAPS. The complainant was unharmed.” said Constable Elizabeth Sibongile Mnguni, Mondeor SAPS communications officer.

This incident followed two other robberies in the area. On April 28, at about 13:15, a husband and wife were attacked by two men and threatened with a panga. The suspects stole electrical appliances before fleeing. A case of house robbery was opened with Mondeor SAPS.

Another robbery took place in Branksome Heights on April 27. Here a television set and other electronics were stolen.

Constable Mnguni has contested claims of a possible syndicate targeting the area and said that these are everyday criminals who are committing these crimes and not a syndicate.
