Gold Reef City welcomes Kaya FM

Home of the Afropolitan: Kaya Fm, opened its new satellite studio at one of Joburg's favourite family entertainment destination, Gold Reef City.

ORMONDE – Gold Reef City and Kaya FM held an exclusive star-studded event to launch the new Kaya FM satellite studio recently, with Bob Mabena as the masters of ceremonies.

One of Joburg’s favourite family entertainment destinations, Gold Reef City is in the process of a multi-million rand redevelopment that will cement its place as the destination of choice in the South of Joburg. The latest addition to this amazing redevelopment is the launch of the new Kaya FM satellite studio.

“The launch of this satellite studio at Gold Reef City signals another landmark addition in the overall redevelopment of the property. There is a compelling opportunity for synergy between the station and a family entertainment hub like Gold Reef City, which appeals to our shared target market. We expect this strategic partnership to produce a number of positive spin-offs for both brands,” said Noeleen Bruton, director of marketing at Tsogo Sun.

“Our partnership with Gold Reef City allows Kaya FM to have a physical brand presence in one of our strategic target markets, and gives our listeners an opportunity to see and experience the live broadcasting of some of their favourite shows. They will have the opportunity to interact with the Kaya FM personalities,” explained Kaya FM managing director Greg Maloka.

Other aspects of Gold Reef City’s redevelopment, which recently opened, include the newly refurbished Back O’ the Moon restaurant, Vigour and Verve, the new Crèche and Magic Company. Other highlights which will be completed over the next few months include the Tsogo Sun movie franchise Movies@, featuring a six-cinema complex, a 12-lane bowling alley, a medley of six new restaurants and a fast food court.

Kaya FM is the largest independent commercial regional station in Gauteng, speaking to 1,6 million of a discerning Afropolitan audience weekly. The broadcasts are a unique mix of music and talk content. The sound of the station is soul and jazz infused genres during the day, supported by intelligent and thought-provoking current affairs shows in the evening.

The station’s footprint reaches the greater Johannesburg Metropolitan area. Kaya Fm reflects the lives of the predominantly black, urban listeners living in Gauteng.
