Q4 awards for Mamelodi Sundowns coach and player

ABSA PSL Q4 Coach and Player awards.

MAMELODI Sundowns recorded double honours in the Absa Premiership Quarter 4 awards, as coach Pitso Mosimane and midfield dynamo Teko Modise claimed prestigious prizes, the PSL announced at their offices in Parktown on Monday May 5.

“I am very honoured to receive these awards, and seeing that the media selected the winners, I am very humble,” said Mosimane. “But I was surprised that not more of my players received these players awards in the other quarters.”

“This is a great honour for me and I think I am playing some of my best soccer at the club,” said Modise.

Mosimane collected R15 000 for his efforts in guiding top flight log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns to five wins in as many outings to collect the Absa Premiership Coach of Quarter 4 award, while Modise banked the same amount of cash in claiming the Absa Premiership Player of Quarter 4 honours.

A rejuvenated Modise was a popular choice among the judging panel, in having scored in both of his team’s 1-0 wins over Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows in Absa Premiership fourth quarter action, to keep Mamelodi Sundowns on track for a possible Absa Premiership triumph – in what would be the Chloorkop-based club’s first league trophy success in seven years.

Judging panel convenor and football analyst Farouk Khan congratulated the award winners.

“This is one of the most exciting finishes of the PSL season that I have ever experienced, as the top positions differ after each session of matches. “said Mosimane.
