WATCH: Forensic report still outstanding on Deokaran’s murder

All six accused whose bail was denied remained in custody.

Babita Deokaran’s murder case was postponed to October 6.

This is after the six accused appeared for the second time in Johannesburg High Court on August 24.

The matter was postponed for further consultation as new evidence came forth including the forensic report, which is still outstanding. The defence legal team also mentioned outstanding payments.

Phakamani Hadebe, Nhlangane Ndlovu, Sanele Mbhele, Siphakanyiswa Dladla, Zitha Radebe and Siphiwe Mazibuko are accused of ambushing Gauteng health official Babita Deokaran before shooting her to death outside her home.

They are also accused of the attempted murder of Deokaran’s domestic worker who was in the car with her at the time of the shooting.

Deokaran was returning from dropping off her child at school when she was shot. She was taken to hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

She was a key witness in the Special Investigative Unit’s probe into personal protective equipment corruption in the provincial health department.

All accused whose bail was denied remained in custody.
