Booysens Police works with the community

Booysens Police arrested 71 suspects from February 17 to 23.

BOOYSENS – From February 17 to 23 a total of 71 arrests were made at Booysens Police Station.

These include: 11 – assault common, eight – housebreaking, 19 – possession of drugs and six – theft.

Turffontein – Possession of dagga (February 21)

Members of Booysens were doing patrols in the Turffontein area when they spotted a Ford Fiesta driven by an unknown suspect. When the suspect parked the car, the members noticed that he was approached by another person. They observed the situation for a while and then noticed that a parcel was exchanged between the two people. They then approached the unknown suspect, introduced themselves as police officials and asked to search the suspect and vehicle. The members found a dagga cigarette on the suspect and arrested him for being in possession of dagga.

Kenilworth – Possession of drugs (February 21)

Booysens Police members were doing patrols in the Booysens area when at 17:00 they entered the Kenilworth area. They were approached by a member of the community who informed them that there was a person selling drugs further up the street at a certain address. They proceeded to the mentioned address and stopped beside the suspect. They introduced themselves as police officials and searched him. The members found a small plastic bag containing a white substance.

Forest Hill – Possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle (February 23)

Members of Booysens SAPS received a complaint from radio control concerning a suspicious vehicle that was parked on Schuller Street. They attended to the complainant and a vehicle was pointed out. The complainant mentioned that the vehicle was parked by the suspect and not supposed to be parked there. The members then traced the registration of the vehicle and were told that it was stolen. They approached the suspect and questioned him whether he had parked the vehicle. When the suspect replied yes, he was arrested and taken to Booysens SAPS for further investigation.
