Well wishes to the Hindu community

Those who observe the fast during this very sacred month are guaranteed radiant health, material prosperity and divine aishwariya.

THE Sri Adi Shankara Ashrama, situated in Winchester Hills, South of Johannesburg, would like to wish the entire Gujerati community a very happy, fulfilling and spiritually edifying fasting month of ‘Shravan’ which commenced on August 1, ending on August 30.

Sri Swami Shivashankarananda and Sri Swami Shraddhananda Mataji, resident swamis of the Swami Sivananda Yoga, Satsanga and Seva Centre, said, “The very auspicious and sacred month of Shravan, during which many Hindus undertake a strict fast, subject themselves to various kinds of penances and dedicate themselves exclusively to the Worship of the Lord, is a very spiritually significant event in the Hindu spiritual calendar.

“The Puranic story in which Lord Shiva drank the deadly poison known as halalla and saved humanity from the brink of disaster, explains why Mahadeva is the pivotal deity around which the entire fast revolves.

“Those who observe the fast during this very sacred month are guaranteed radiant health, material prosperity and divine aishwariya. All of us at Sri Adi Shankara Ashrama wish each and every one of our sponsors, patrons, donors, supporters and well-wishers a very successful and enriching fast during this beautiful month of Shravan.”

Hamper drive

The Ashrama would also like to use this very auspicious period of Shravan to launch its 31st annual Deepavali Grocery Hamper Drive and receive the Blessings of the Supreme power in the form of Lord Shiva for its success and smooth functioning.

“Since 1988, the entire Southern suburbs community has been important and magnanimous contributors towards the success of this highlight of the Ashrama’s Seva to indigent and lesser fortunate members of the community.

“Therefore the Ashrama would like to make a humble appeal to each and every member of the community to once more lend its unstinting support,” said Sri Swami Shivashankarananda.

Those who would like to render Seva to the poor and needy via the Ashrama’s ongoing Feeding Scheme Project, as well as its Annual Deepavali Grocery Hamper Drive, may do a direct deposit into the Ashrama’s Nedbank account, number 2940 039 585.
