Stolen taps causes precious water wastage for Bellavista residents

Water is wasted due to a tap being stolen.

THUGS are on a stealing spree of taps in Bellavista like the one stolen on July 24 from an unoccupied compound on the corner of Bellavista Road and Royal Street.

The water has been streaming down the road since the tap was stolen and residents say Joburg Water is yet to attend to the scene.

The caretaker of the compound told the COURIER that he called Joburg Water and he was told that someone will be sent to monitor the situation. What worries residents is that water is being wasted while millions of people are in need of a litre of water.

“If the water keeps on running like this children will end up playing in it which is not good for the Bellavista community. The stealing of taps is something that is a concern in this area and no one has been arrested yet. We save water but seeing water running like this is not good. Something must be done quickly,” said a concerned resident.
