My Lillies of Hope (MLOH) celebrate Madiba

MLOH honors the Legend by hosting a braai for residents

MY Lillies of Hope (MLOH) was established in 2008 to provide a secured shelter and accommodation to destitute young women.

MLOH began their 67 minutes by cleaning the streets of Jozi CBD on the morning of July 18. From there they went to MLOH house in Rosettenville were they prepared braaied meat for residents and kept them entertained the whole day with activities and performances. Different entertainers were present to keep the residents entertained.

The Imvelo dancing group were the first to capture the audience’s attention with their dancing moves.

As the event kept on unfolding, the elderly paid tribute to Madiba by singing the national anthem for him. Residents were treated to a great meal starting with a cup of soup and later on with a full meal.

Clr Rashieda Landis was one of the dignitaries and she applauded the good work of MLOH in bring the community together on Madiba day.

MLOH executive director Motlai Mashiloane said: “As everyone is celebrating Madiba around the world we decided to use a different motto which is every day is Madiba day. It is our responsibility as an NPO to help everyone in the community, especially on days like these. We as the MLOH respected Madiba while he was alive even now we are still keeping his legacy. I would also like to extend my appreciation to our sponsors for making this day a success.”
