[GALLERY + VIDEOS]: USA pastor to ‘adopt’ primary school

The partnership of all the stakeholders will benefit the learners at La Rochelle Primary School.

ALL the way from the United States of America, Dr Kimberly Quinton, who is a pastor, came to Apostolic Faith Church in La Rochelle where it was said that she will be adopting La Rochelle Primary School.

She arrived on June 28 and she was welcomed by the church, the school, ANC, South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), Zambian delegates and businessmen in the area, among them there was Ward 124 Clr Mongameli Mnyameni, Prophet Dali Mtyida, Pexie Jafta and Simphiwe Hlafa. Quinton will be helping to uplift the standard of the school together with the local businesses.

During the welcoming speeches, the pastor was told about the plight and challenges of the area and how she can assist. Poverty, crime, drugs and prostitution were among the challenges mentioned.

“We welcome the pastor in this area, she must feel at home. We need prayers in this area, if the prayer had to come from America, let it be. Dr Kimberly Quinton, you came at a very interesting time of our country, the new dawn. However, we cannot ignore the brutality the women are facing. We as men have a duty and a task to stand up and fight the abuse of women,” said Simphiwe Hlafa who represented Sanco.

The partnership of all the stakeholders will benefit the learners at La Rochelle Primary School. Most of the learners come from disadvantaged families, sometimes learners come to school hungry.

Quinton will be touring the school on June 29 to establish the extent of the needs they have. Everyone is invited to the school. The COURIER will do a follow-up article.
