14 SA Military History Society, Johannesburg Branch will get together on Thursday, June 14 at 8pm at the Auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the Zoo). First event will be “The Felix Affair: Lothar Sittig, the Ossewabrandwag and the Trompke Network” by Evert Kleynhans with the main lecture “The Nanking Massacre 1937” by Charles Cohen. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands and enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture. 16 DANCE to Arizona 5km colour run and family fun day hosted by CHX Dance Crew at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on June 16 from 10am to 4pm. Tickets available at www.quicket.co.za at R65 for adults, R50 for children aged six to 11 and children up to five years enter for free. Non-runners tickets available at R50. The day includes the colour run, dance shows and entertainment, market stalls, food vendors and kids zone.

16 DIE Cantare koor hou ’n gratis konsert op 16 Junie tot voorloop van die Wêreldkoorspele waarin hul vanaf 4 tot 7 Julie in Pretoria deelneem. Dit is die eerste keer in 30 jaar dat die spele op die Afrika kontinent plaasvind. Cantare nooi graag enige persoon wat na hulle wil kom luister. Die konsert vind plaas by die NG Gemeente Alberton Suid om 2.30nm vir 3nm en sal teen 4nm klaar wees. Daar sal heerlike koek en koffie voor die konsert te koop wees. NEW 24 All Style workshop at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on June 24 (Sunday). Join in for a full workshop experience in LA Street Jazz by Nadia Katz, Cabaret and Dance Fitness by Michael Julius and Street Hip-Hop (combusting) by Regan Cati. Cost is R300 per person for the entire workshop or R150 per class. The funds raised will go towards funding the five dancers that were selected to go to Jamaica to represent South Africa from Spectre Studios. The workshop starts at 2pm. 29 DOOR of Hope will be hosting a charity golf day at the Houghton Country Club on June 29 as a fund-raising strategy to support the welfare of children in their care. The theme for the day will be “Superheroes” through which Door of Hope will also promote the sustainability of the organisation in continuously taking care of abandoned children across Johannesburg. Members of the community should join and support the charity golf day in their numbers to help children in need. The event will be full of fun activities, creative superhero costumes and lots of prizes to be won. This year’s income-generating golf day will be hosted on August 2 at Reading Country Club with the format being a betterball scramble.
