ANCs meetings are disturbing us

For the ANC even to have the gall to ask to have meeting and parties here is beyond most people's comprehension.

I want to give details of the gatherings and braai’s the ANC are holding on the Reuven Old Age Home’s premises.

I will give examples of the last two Saturdays. On May 26, the ANC apparently had a meeting which turned into a party. This went on until after 11pm. The noise was, to say the least, unbearable. There were cars coming in and out all night. The security could not control or handle the incoming and outgoing traffic.

The residents’ family that came into visit could not get access into Reuven and had to try and find parking outside, with difficulty.

On Sunday morning the residents had to clean up the property. There were beer bottles and debris strewn all over the place.

On June 2, the ANC apparently had another meeting at the Reuven. The people started arriving at 1pm. They had a braai at the Reuven Old Age Home which was followed by a full-on party which also lasted late into the night. The same thing happened as the previous Saturday. At about 9.30pm, Greg, the manager, was phoned. He sounded angry.

On Monday morning he was taking photos of the mess and said he is going to do something about it. He then asked me if I could write a letter and get all the residents to sign it after he told the residents he had already written the letter.

For the ANC even to have the gall to ask to have meeting and parties here is beyond most people’s comprehension.

With all the violence going on the residents are living in absolute fear. Most residents go inside and lock themselves in from when they arrive.

Ward 124 ANC Cllr Mongameli Mnyameni’s response:

Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to respond to the allegations about what happened at Reuven Old Age Home.

Yes, it is true that the ANC had a BBGM at Reuven but about the driving and making lots of noise, it is not true.

There was no braaing and there was no reason for the ANC to do that. The people who came to attend the meeting were only the members of the ANC and there was no up and down driving.

I have never seen anyone from our members making noise; even playing music and drinking.
