Successful clean-up at Rosettenville

WARD 56 residents and other stakeholders took part in the mayor’s citywide A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign on March 24.

HELIPNG OUT: The campaign was along Main Street in Rosettenville.

There was a great turnout.

The University of Johannesburg’s (UJ) Environmental Health Department came with 40 students to assist with the clean-up campaign.

The Southern Business Community Forum (SBCF), and in particular IPOP Rosettenville, Kenilworth Spar, Guardian Angels Security and McDonald’s Rosettenville also contributed to making this a successful day.

GETTING INVLOVED: JMPD and the community at large participated in the clean-up campaign.

City entities such as Pikitup, JMPD and JRA also assisted on the day.

Ward 56 Clr Michael Crichton said, “I am extremely pleased with how the day turned out. It was absolutely fantastic to have 40 students present to assist with the clean-up. I would like to thank IPOP Rosettenville for providing us with three skips on the day, as well as Kenilworth Spar and McDonald’s, who both provided refreshments for the volunteers. I would also like to thank the SBCF in general for the role they play in uplifting the Rosettenville area.

“In addition, I would like to thank the JMPD for escorting the volunteers and ensuring their safety on the day. They also assisted with the dismantling of an illegal structure that was on the side of the road.

“Furthermore, Pikitup did a great job with sending its truck to collect the bags of refuse that were collected during the clean-up, and JRA also did a great job by assisting with clearing the stormwater drains.

“I also have to thank each and every resident that assisted on the day. I appreciate each and every one of you of you for your commitment and contribution.”
