Conversations with strangers: South businessman chases perfection

South business man says it takes hard work to stay ahead of the curve.

SOUTH businessman Chase Meakin says it takes hard work to stay ahead of the curve.

The COURIER spoke to the hair designer and owner of Chase Hairdressing, who shared some tips on reaching for your dreams.

Meakin started cutting hair at 15 years old and said he hasn’t stopped since.

“Of course there were times growing up when I didn’t take it seriously as a profession,” he said with a smile; but it was his father’s authoritative nature that catapulted the now sought-after hairdresser.

Meakin said it was the ‘get a job or the army’ challenge from his father that pushed him, and the rest, as we know, is history.

With over 27 years in the business, Meakin says it can only get better.

RELAX: Patrons can enjoy coffee while waiting.

The award-winning hairdresser said it was when he entered the South African Men’s Hairdressing Championships in 1999, and won, that it dawned on him that he could make this a profession.

He hasn’t looked back since. Chase Hairdressing is located in Brackenhurst and provides its clients with a memorable experience. The honest businessman admitted that his South branch had to be closed in order to amplify service and add more focus to the initial shop in Alberton.

COFFEE AND A TOUCH-UP: Chase Hairdressing offers an opportunity to escape while getting pampered.

He said it takes dedication and hard work to run any business. He flies to Switzerland and Dubai first thing in 2018, as well as various other places locally, all for his love of making people feel great about themselves.

TOUCH: The boutique offers customers an experience.
