Woman’s kindness repaid with robbery

Clare only managed to open a case with the Booysens police on November 15, as she lacked transport to the station and was still in pain.

CLARE le Roux (65) from Robertsham was left with bruises on her face, hands and knees after she tried to be kind to two strangers who had asked her for directions on Lisbon Avenue on November 10.

She said while she was waiting for her friend to join her to go and feed feral cats in Southdale and Booysens, a white bakkie with two occupants parked next her.

“They wanted directions to Bellavista. While I was directing them, they grabbed my Samsung cellphone and my purse. It happened fast,” she said.

“I tried to hold on to the window of the bakkie. That’s when they sped off,” she said.

The momentum caused her to fall and hurt herself badly.

“My finger on the right hand was severely hurt and I had bruises on my left cheek just below the eye, on my left arm and both knees.

“I hope they rot in hell. He (pointing upwards) will sort them out,” she declared.

In her purse she had a R200 note, bank cards and store cards.

She said she is also deeply hurt because of all the information on the phone that is now lost.

“Where will I get all the photographs I took?

“You need to be careful out there. People have no mercy,” she said.
