Rewlatch ‘save the planet’ in national science expo

Deputy Principal Stephen Douwie said he was proud of the learners who had been exemplary in the month of September.

REWLATCH Primary School wants to congratulate their exemplary learners for their outstanding performances in a national science expo held in September.

A group of Grade Seven pupils alongside Ms Gladys Moekoa their science teacher, invented a device to help save the planet as part of the Eskom National Expo for Young Scientists.

Moekoa said the project was part of Eskom’s social development mission to develop innovative ideas, which will help save the planet. The event serves to encourage learners to develope eco-friendly devices to maintain a cleaner environment.

Six Grade Seven pupils Pamela Phakathi, Sachin Mohan, Omolemo Mogudi, Lamar Paulsen, Blessing Coker and Nkanyiso Sakala did their school proud by obtaining recognition for their unique coal substituting device which replaces coal as an energy generating substance.

Economic management sciences teacher and deputy principal, Stephen Douwie, said he was proud of the learners.

“We always encourage learners to invent things to help save the planet,” he said.

The pupils received silver and bronze medals alongside participation certificates.
