The police have dubbed the men dangerous and have advised members of the public to report the men if and when they are seen. Police minister Fikile Mbalula has issued a warning that no one should attempt to apprehend the men personally.

Twenty men were freed last Tuesday when a group of assailants travelling in a Mercedez vehicle targeted their truck headed for Johannesburg Central prison on the Pat Mbatha Road near South Gate train station.

The truck carrying the prisoners was ambushed after it left the Johannesburg Magistrate’s court around 3.30pm.
