Neglected man faces more trouble

Jones was now said to be using a wheelchair.

THE situation has turned from bad to worse for after Brian Jones who was admitted to hospital after being neglected by his caregiver. At the time he was found covered by some maggots.

Jones, who was last reported to be at the South Rand Hospital awaiting a decision on whether a home for him would be found, is now at the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital after a motorbike accident.

It has been confirmed by the administration of the hospital that he is in one of the wards receiving treatment.

The administrator told the COURIER that Jones was admitted to the hospital on August 7.

Further investigations to establish how Jones injured himself in a motorcycle accident, are underway.

City of Johannesburg’s Honest Khumalo – who is responsible for the Pioneer Park Old Age Home – said the Johannesburg hospital (Charlotte Maxeke) contacted him to ask when Jones would be allowed to come home.

Khumalo said he too was a bit confused as the last information he had received was that placement investigations for Jones were ongoing.

He said the hospital (Charlotte Maxeke) said they had discharged Jones who was now apparently wheelchair-bound.

Khumalo said the old age home (Pioneer Park) would be a challenge as the home was not wheelchair friendly.

Charlotte Maxeke hospital was contacted to find out more information about Jones’ situation without any success.

More attempts are being made to find out what steps will be taken regarding Jones.
