The Bag Lady

What's The Bag Lady been up to this past week? Lunching, shopping and reading.

Everything is coming up roses and the shops are absolutely full of Valentine gifts. Go mad!

Silky soft duvet covers

Late last year I saw Woolworths was stocking a new range of duvet covers (silky soft) and decided to buy one and try it out. It’s so soft and comfortable. Woolworths’ description – “Experience lightweight, easy care, highly absorbent silky soft fabric, made for your comfort. This microfiber fabric draws moisture from the skin and has excellent anti-bacterial and anti-allergenic properties. Machine wash 40°C, cool iron, can be tumble dried.” The great thing about it is that it’s actually less expensive than some of the other duvet sets. The queen duvet cover set I bought, which included two pillowcases, was R399.

Let’s do lunch

Last week we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Mythos, Mall of the South, where every week, from Monday to Saturday at lunch-time, they have specials. Presently it’s R58 for either 200g rump steak and chips, meze calamari and chips, hake and chips, two chicken skewers with salad or beef yiro, chicken yiro or haloumi yiro in pita bread with chips. I’m not too sure of the times the specials are available, but you can phone 011 682 1746 and find out.

A must-read for young and old

I’m an avid reader, although it often takes me weeks to finish a book due to lack of spare time, but when I began The Fault in our Stars, I couldn’t put it down. It tells the story of Hazel and Gus, “two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them – and us – on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.” I laughed and I cried, and I’d recommend it to everyone to read.

That’s it for this week. Shop till you drop!
