Amaigbo Town Union South Africa funds Look Forward Creativity Centre

Groceries donated to benefit children at Look Forward Creativity Centre in the South Hills

LOOK Forward Creativity Centre was very grateful to receive groceries worth R6 000 and a cheque for R5 000, donated by members of the Amaigbo Town Union South Africa on Friday, October 21.

Some members of the union such as union president, Oliver Nwauka, have been visiting the centre to see what the people there do for underprivileged children – and they decided then that they would fork our whatever they could afford from their own pockets, to help the centre keep afloat.

“We’ve been going from one charity to another in the past six years, doing what we can to assist those who’ve dedicated their lives to helping fellow human beings. We donate everything from clothes to food and cheques, so that these charity organisations can keep going and growing – to assist more people in future,” said Oliver.

The union is made up of Nigerian descendants, who come from the same town and villages and often raise money to help various other charity organisations. The members mostly go to the same churches and live in the South of Johannesburg.

Oliver explained Amaigbo Town Union South Africa was established in 2003, but officially registered in 2008. It isn’t a labour union but a Non-Profit Organisation for the members who share the same upbringing, roots and values – and believe in a society where residents help each other to survive. The children and staff at the centre were very grateful and sang songs of praise, to show their appreciation for the generous donations.
