Joburg Bread to launch in Soweto

The City of Johannesburg has trained 70 bakers on the technical aspects of using mango flour as a baking ingredient.

ACCORDING to the City of Johannesburg, the city’s mayor, Clr Parks Tau, will launch Joburg Bread on Thursday, July 14, at the Pimville Skills Centre.

Joburg Bread is baked with normal flour mixed with processed flour from mango fruit which gives it a distinctive, fruity taste and will offer Joburgers an affordable and healthy alternative to current loaves.

The City of Johannesburg has trained 70 bakers on the technical aspects of using mango flour as a baking ingredient. This will see the city lead in the fields of innovation and food security. A number of sites have been identified and renovated citywide to kick-start the commercialisation of the project.

The launch at the Pimville Skills Centre in Soweto will start between 10:00 and 11:00 at 3623 Modjadji Street.
