Violent robbers busted

The suspects tied a man and then beat him with a stick and a bottle before taking his R1 600.

A SPRINGFIELD man was brutally attacked with a stick and a beer bottle before his attackers robbed him on Saturday, June 18. He was on his way to the shops.

The victim informed Moffatview SAPS about the attack. The three suspects tied his hands and then assaulted him by beating him with a stick on his right foot and beating him over the head with a beer bottle. They then searched him and took R1 600 cash off him as well as his cellphone and passport.

The three suspects were arrested by Moffatview SAPS.

According to Moffatview SAPS, the complainant was walking in Gamma Street when he was attacked. He was taken to a veld in broad daylight and in view of the public, where he was assaulted and then left alone.

Fortunately the victim knew where the suspects reside and that enabled officers working with Detective Constable Shadrack Mthalane to arrest the first suspect on Friday, June 30, in Glenesk, before the second suspect was arrested at a local tavern. The third suspect was nabbed at his place of residence.
