Umbumbulu schools receive donations

Learners at KwaGwegwe Primary School and Hamilton Makhanya High School received school uniforms and other supplies as part of the government’s strategy to assist those in need.

TWO schools in Umbumbulu were visited by the minister of the Department of Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, to monitor the beginning of the academic year and hand out school uniforms and other supplies on January 18.

Dhlomo, who is also originally from Umbumbulu, was accompanied by Thamo Mzobe, who is Sassa’s regional executive manager, and they handed out 121 school uniforms to learners while at KwaGwegwe Primary School.

“This programme is part of the government’s strategy to assist learners who are in need of receiving school uniforms,” said Dhlomo.

He spoke to learners, encouraging them to focus on their studies and respect their teachers. Dhlomo then moved to Hamilton Makhanya High School where he distributed hygiene packs for all learners. The school also received a donation of Wi-Fi from TBHIVCare, a non-profit organisation which Thobeka Mchunu represented.
