Rylen de Esclana could possibly win the coveted title of being crowned as the competition draws to a close. The Bluff resident said he is humbled and grateful to be the only KZN finalist.

“It feels like I entered the competition just the other day, taking the biggest leap of my life yet. In the Top 75, of which eight entrants were from KZN, many men from all over South Africa dared to make their mark. To be still standing as the only one from the province in the journey towards the crown, all I can say is… To God be all the Glory,” he said.

De Esclana said the journey had flared up hope in him that he otherwise was starting to lose. He compares his rise against all odds to that of a phoenix and with the crown, hopes to positively impact the emerging generation. He thanked his family, friends, church, various partners and supporters.

“It is true, I do sound like I have won already. The truth is, whether I take the title or not, I have won a thousand times over by how I have walked this journey and have pushed to the very end. I’m most proud of myself and I look forward to making everyone supporting me proud in the finale,” he said.
