Aprilia to add new RSV4 and Tuono V4 to local range

Italian Motorcycle Importers (IMI) has announced that the latest Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono V4 ranges are headed to SA in September after forming a partnership with Vespa South Africa and the Italian Piaggio Group.

At the top of the list is the latest RSV4 V4 featuring a 1.1-litre 65-degree V4 engine able to produce 161.8 kW. The RF1100 model sees the addition of new pistons, a longer stroke and a new engine map co-developed by Magneti Marelli to limit the engine to 13 600 rpm. Also forming part of the new range is the RSV4 RR which receives its motivation from a 1.0-litre engine, limited to 13 000 rpm and able to produce 149 kW. The new V4 monobloc crankcase engine comes with integrated aluminium cylinder liners and lightweight pistons. The while the RSV4 RR come with unique engine mapping, both derivatives see the inclusion of the Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) electronics package. The system includes adjustable traction control and wheelie control with three levels.

“The RSV4 was designed to be the absolute best and fastest superbike in its class and is the closest production bike to Aprilia Racing bikes. The latest versions, which we will feature in our showroom soon, offers the most advanced development of the RSV4 racing frame and suspension and includes a new advanced electronic controls package,” Ian Huntly, CEO, Italian Motorcycle Importers.

In addition to the RSV4, IMI will soon have the award-winning Tuono V4 on offer locally. Although you will be able to choose between an RR or RF derivative, both will come fitted with a revised version of RSV4 V4 1.1-litre engine. While the Tuono only produce 129 kW and develop 121 N.m of torque, the latest iteration will come fitted with Brembo brakes, Öhlins electronic suspension and a version of Aprilia’s APRC system, which includes traction control, wheelie control and launch control.

“While the Tuono is, on the face of it, not as single-minded as the RSV4, it remains a true Aprilia. In fact, a standard Tuono won the heavyweight category at this year’s Pikes Peak hill climb in the USA and set a new track record for production superbikes,” Ian Huntly, CEO, Italian Motorcycle Importers.

Warranty

The new Aprilia models include a limited 24-month factory warranty.
